Analysis on Manchester United's Champions League Opponents

Manchester United qualified for the 2020-21 Champions League group stage after finishing third on the 2019-20 Premier League season table.

Following the Champions League draws of 1st October, after all the qualification marches had already been played, the Red Devils were drawn in Group H (A very tough group) along side with Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig, and Instanbul Basaksehir. This group is said to be one of the toughest group in the competition given that each of the teams in the group had a significant impact in the previous season.

Paris Saint-Germain :
PSG is said to be the first encounter for the Red Devils and equally one of the toughest in the group. They are the French Ligue 1 Champions, as well as the Champions of the French domestic Cup. They had a good season in the last edition of the Champions League in which they finished as runners up. The last time the team met Manchester United was in the 2018-19 Champions League round of 16, where the Red Devils won aggregate in a 3-3 aggregate score (Manchester United winning with more away goals). Given the History of the encounter which PSG had with United in the last clash of the competition, they will surely be United's toughest opponent in the group because PSG is going to take more precautions against Manchester United as most of PSG's key players of that period are still in.
RB Leipzig:
The Red Bulls Leipzig are no doubt another threatening team in not only the group but also the competition. Though the team is barely 11 years old, RB Leipzig has had a good record ever since coming into the top tier of not only German football, but also European football. They finished third in the 2019-20 Bundesliga Season, posing a huge threat to the like of others as Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund. Ever since their promotion into the Bundesliga, there had qualified for a European competition at the end of every season. They finished the previous edition of Champions League in the Semi finals where they lost to Paris Saint-Germain 3-0. Leipzig is undoubtedly very tough with a promising squad and has produced impressive results in the previous seasons.
Instanbul Basaksehir:
Instanbul Basaksehir is another team which cannot equally be concluded as an underdog in the group. The are the Champions of the Turkish Super Lig, and they finished the 2019-20 Turkish Cup and the Europa League in the round of 16. Basaksehir has had a good record especially in their domestic League challenging teams like Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray, and Besiktas in the Super Lig. This edition of the Champions League will be their first which might seem uneasy.
Manchester United's Champions League group tie will however be a tough one given that each of the teams in the group have a reputable record. The group H consisting of two domestic league champions (Basaksehir and PSG), and two league third-position teams (Man United and RB Leipzig), indicating that no team in the group qualified through a UCL Barrage.
Thus the Group will be tough but to United fans it will be no doubt that the team is going to make it to the knock out phase of the Champions League and it will pose as a surprise to many other critic football fans. With the setting of the group, even attaining the third position to secure a Europa League spot will not be an easy task for any team not good enough which in this case might be Basaksehir or Leipzig (or even surprisingly PSG).
