Jose Mourinho will no doubt be on the blower to Edward Woodward in
the not too distant future, regarding potential January transfers.
However, before that, The Sun reckons that the self-proclaimed Special One wants the club to tie down four integral squad members to new deals as soon as possible.
Apparently, Mourinho wants long-term contracts for Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Ashley Young. Let’s start with Shaw. The left-back has been an absolute joy to watch to start this campaign, putting in some brilliant, buccaneering displays that have brought a new dimension to the side.
Then you have his English compatriot Young. His versatility is an asset for United. If we can get him on a cheaper, shorter, contract I’m all for keeping him around. Honestly, I’m still shocked that Mata has lasted so long under Mourinho. I thought he’d be one of the first players out the exit door but to his credit, the former Valencia man has kept fighting and played well.
The fans love Herrera. With the arrival of Fred and the emergence of Andreas Pereira, I feel his game-time is only going to decrease. I dearly hope he sticks around beyond his current deal, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him depart.
