Mourinho has finally found his defensive leader for Man United

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly been impressed with Victor Lindelof of late and may have just found his defensive leader.

The Portuguese manager hadn’t hidden his desire to sign new centre-backs over the past summer but it may have all worked out in his favour after all.

The Swede was signed by the former Real Madrid man himself but the initial struggle made it difficult to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Thankfully Lindelof appears to have turned a corner in his United career and has benefitted from being regularly selected by Mourinho this season.

The defender has seemingly grown in each passing match and it appears his manager has been impressed for several reasons.

According to ESPN, Jose initially had reservations about Victor but has since been impressed with his intelligence, hard work and ability on the ball.

There’s no doubt the former Benfica man is the best passer out of the Red Devils’ current options and there’s a sense there’s still more to come from him.

Fans hadn’t known much about Lindelof when he arrived if anything at all but his reputation as a modern centre-back preceded him.

The relatively young star has shown he’s got all the necessary traits to excel in the modern game- pace, passing and intelligence and now it’s time to put it all together consistently.
