When Anthony Martial‘s agent, Philipe Lomboley came out this summer and announced the player’s desire to leave Manchester United, it seemed dead-set that he wouldn’t be at the club come the start of the 2018-19 season.
The 22-year-old is still playing his football at Old Trafford though and it has now emerged that he could be at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ to stay following a change of heart.
Martial was an unused substitute in the Premier League opener against Leicester City but started in the defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last time out, playing 60 minutes.
According to the Sun, Man United’s unwillingness to sell him during the summer transfer window has resulted in the France international as ready as ever to fight for his place in Jose Mourinho’s plans.
At the moment, it’s probably safe to say that Martial is third in the left-wing pecking order at United, with former Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez and academy prodigy Marcus Rashford ahead of him.
It’s no secret that he has the talent to live up to his potential and thrive in England but the current campaign could end up being a make-or-break one in terms of his career at United.
Martial has become a fan favourite since joining in 2015 and it’d be a huge shame to see such a prospect leave so early, so let’s hope he comes good this term.
