Mourinho introduces his new coaching team

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has introduced his coaching staff, insisting he knows them all well through various experiences. There were some concerns that his assistant manager Rui Faria leaving could have an affect on the squad in terms of destabilising them ahead of the new season.

Mourinho has not officially hired a new assistant but has rejigged his staff to good effect and is happy with the current set-up, insisting there’s room for someone to grow into his new assistant. There’s been hints Michael Carrick will eventually fill that role but for now he’ll only be working as a coach following his retirement from his playing days. It’ll be exciting to see whether this new coaching set-up will have a positive effect on the squad or not but there’s certainly the makings of a good team.
According to Manchester Evening News, Jose said to MUTV: “It’s good for them [the coaches]. I knew them all, for different reasons, in different circumstances. “Rapetti was my assistant at Inter Milan for two seasons [2009-2011], so we were together and know each other well. But then for the last seven or eight years, when I went to Madrid, Chelsea and United, he went to Empoli and Sampdoria. “Michael, of course, I know very well and he knows me very well, but he was a player and now it’s the first steps for him, in this period, to grow up and feel more comfortable in a new role. “And Kieran, I know him from the club and I know he’s got potential, which is why I decided to bring him up. For him, it’s also good that half of the tour squad are his boys [from last season’s Under-18 team], for his confidence, and when he starts to work with the whole squad, he’s more adapted.” While Mourinho is known for being a defensive minded, counter-attacking coach, the likes of Carrick and Kieran McKenna are known for their attacking nature.
Hopefully the three will counter-balance one another well and fans will see the exciting football they’ve so desperately called out for the past few seasons. Jose’s third campaign is arguably his most important one with there being huge pressure on him to deliver the Premier League title or risk losing his job. Source: The Peoples Person
